A member of the Liberal Democratic Party, Yoshimasa Hayashi has served in Japan’s House of Councillors since 1995. Appointed to both the Committee on Financial Affairs and the Commission on the Constitution, he recently served as the former minister of education, culture, sports, science and technology. In the U.S. he earned a master’s in public administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He was an assistant to Congressman Steve Neal in 1991 and an international affairs intern in the office of Senator William Roth from 1991-92. Hayashi’s talk will be followed by a student panel and Q&A hosted by Dean Nancy Marchand-Martella
from Purdue’s College of Education.
